Bungsamran

Only 45 minutes from the centre of Bangkok, Bungsamran is arguably the best known fishing in Thailand day ticket venue in the world. If arm aching battles with large Mekong catfish is your aim, this is the place for you! Multiple catches here are normal and if you have the energy a truly memorable day can be had. Average size of the catfish are 30-40lb but fish of over 100lb are fairly common. Quoted by some as the hardest fighting freshwater fish , the Mekong catfish at Bungsamran should be experienced by any angler visiting Thailand.

Lurking in the depths are also some very large Siamese carp. Seldom fished for and not easy to catch these carp have been caught to well over 100lb. The original stock fish achieved weights of over 200lb but it is not known how many of these fish still remain. Tactics for the carp are different from the standard catfish days and we strongly recommend spending a few days here to build up a baited area if the carp are your main target.

You have the choice of fishing from the public bank or from one of the many bungalows at the lake. The public bank can be very productive but can get busy at weekends or holidays. Prices for the bungalows vary according to the position and the facilities available. Lunch can be delivered to any of the fishing areas if you don’t want to miss a minutes fishing.

The main features at this venue are the bridges, stages and bungalows. Almost every hooked fish will try to gain sanctuary amongst the maze of stilts that support these and because of this the tackle we use is built for power. If you do want to bring your own rods please check that they are up to the challenge. We have seen so many anglers have their own rods destroyed by the immense power of the fish here.

Bungsamran really is an amazing place to visit and many anglers from all over world start their fishing tours here.

We can offer this venue on single days or part of your fishing tour.
